Romance Route

So, the Romance Route of the game is triggered after a decision where Takumi can either choose to kiss Hiruko or not to kiss her. Kissing her results in her pushing him off the roof (and presumably jumping/falling off herself) and leaving him unconscious with gaps in his memory due to the revive-o-matic being damaged. While he's unconscious, he has a series of dreams where he kisses Kurara, Tsubasa, and Kyoshika. The three girls also have dreams where they're kissing him. To figure out who he's fated to be with, Moko suggests a game where the girls each get to date him for a set amount of time and, at the end of their time together, Takumi chooses if he wants to be with her or move on to the next girl.

Every 5 days, Takumi and the girl he's dating will have meetings with Moko to discuss their progress. Most of the time, Takumi expresses that he is unsure if he truly has romantic feelings for the girl he's with.

The first girl he dates is Kurara. The two have a series of movie dates together and grow closer, despite her abrasive personality while she's wearing the mask. There is a point where she gets jealous of Nozomi and assumes Takumi has feelings for her, but they're able to move past that after Takumi convinces her that he doesn't have feelings for Nozomi. There are three things that can happen after Kurara's confession. If Takumi decides that he likes her, there will be another decision where he will either ask her to take her mask off or not. Taking her mask off leads to an ending where the two share a kiss and enter a relationship together. Allowing her to keep her mask on leads to an ending where Takumi expresses that it would be hard for them to kiss if she won't take her mask off and she makes him get on the ground and kiss her boot. He seems...fine? with this arrangement, outing himself as a little bit of a masochist. The choice to reject her makes the route continue.

After Kurara, Takumi begins dating Kyoshika. The two spend their dates training in the gymnasium. During this route, Kyoshika opens up about her isolated past and expresses a desire to get married and have children. She also asks Takumi about his preferences when it comes to women and concludes that she's the total opposite of that and ends up working herself to exhaustion. Soon after her recovery, Kyoshika confesses and Takumi again has the option to either accept or reject her. If accepted, the two share a kiss and begin dating, which ends the romance route. If Kyoshika is rejected, the romance route continues.

If Takumi rejects Kyoshika, he will begin dating Tsubasa. Out of the three girls, Tsubasa is the most casual. While the other two are looking for marriage and kids, Tsubasa just wants to hang out and see where things go from there. They mostly work on projects in the garage in relative silence, occasionally making conversation. It isn't until later in the route that Tsubasa realizes she genuinely loves Takumi and starts getting nauseous around him as a result. She does manage to confess to him without getting sick. If her confession is accepted, Takumi and Tsubasa share a kiss and he goes on to have probably the most normal relationship he could've hoped to get out of this situation. If she is rejected, Takumi has his final meeting with Moko.

During their final meeting, Takumi seems pretty down. I don't remember what the options were, so I'll update this later when I check, but the outcomes are:

  1. Takumi says he likes all of the girls and it goes on to talk about how they end up in a polyamorous relationship and start a family. It is revealed that Takumi was knocked out by Moko for saying he wanted to be with all three of them and that was a dream he was having while he was unconscious.
  2. Takumi says he has feelings for Nozomi and confesses to her. She rejects him due to not knowing him well enough, but expresses that she would like to be friends first.
  3. Takumi breaks down from stress and says it was ridiculous and stressful to try a dating game during a war. Moko allows him to lay on her lap and he starts crying.

I think the objectively correct outcome of this route is for Takumi to have a good cry. I don't think he's particularly compatible with any of these girls and it is actually kind of ridiculous to hold a dating game during a war and making this guy have to focus on dating three girls and also preparing to fight for the sake of humanity. I think he needs to have a good cry and take a few days to relax.

I feel like I'm missing an ending, maybe? So I'll double check later. I would also like to list which choices lead to this ending.

Overall, I liked this route. It's silly and low stakes and is a nice change of pace. It was the first route I got so it made me antsy because I wanted to learn more about what was going on, but it was a fun distraction from the horrors.
