Albums I listened to in 2026

Same as the previous years. While I'm still not sure about the organization, I can't think of how else I would want to do it, so. Just like last year though, I don't have the type of job that enabled me to listen to nearly unlimited music and podcasts, but I am making a more conscious effort to listen to more albums and more new music. Albums with notes in quotations are taken directly from my notes app.

My top tracks for each album can be found here.

Top 5 Albums of 2025

1. TBD

Alternative

• CHIME OBLIVION (CHIME OBLIVION) | Notes: Good, if a bit repetitive
• Reality Awaits (The Strokes) | Notes: "The autotune is diabolical"
• Romanticize The Dive (Metric) | Notes: Kind of boring, I'm not gonna lie.

Country/Folk

• Johnny Cash with His Hot and Blue Guitar (Johnny Cash) | Notes: Obviously it's good, it's Johnny Cash.
• One More Dollar to Go (Jake Vaadeland) | Notes: "never misses". I didn't like this album as much as previous ones, but it was still pretty good!

Digicore

• Revengeseekerz (Jane Remover) | Notes: I did not enjoy a single track on this, but I wish I did. I understand why other people enjoyed it, but it just absolutely was not for me

EBM/Darkwave

• The Ultimate Climax (Qual) | Notes: It was fine. Not bad, not good. Truly mid. I love the song Take Me Higher though. Makes sense that that's the song with the most listens by a huge margin.

Electronic

• Manual For Dying (Patriarchy) | Notes: "Disappointing". The first 3 songs were pretty good, I love Boy On A Leash, but after Coming Up, it felt like it just kept decreasing in quality. I love Patriarchy, so this was incredibly disappointing to listen to.

Indie

• DECIDE (Djo) | Notes: "liked it more than I expected to." Not an all timer favorite album by any means, but I did enjoy it

J-Pop

• LOST CORNER (Yonezu Kenshi) | Notes: Pretty damn good

Pop Rock

• Music, Fashion, Film (Charli xcx) | Notes: "liked more than Brat", but it's because I like this genre more. I do think Brat is more interesting, but I like the overall sound of Music, Fashion, Film more.

Punk

• Attempted Martyr (Prostitute) | Notes: Immediately added this to my favorite album list after finishing it. Solid 10/10

Rap Rock

• They Left Me With A Gun (Paris Texas) | Notes: see: They Left Me With The Sword
• They Left Me With The Sword (Paris Texas) | Notes: Pretty good. Not the sort of thing I would generally go out of my way to listen to, but I understand why so many people enjoyed it

Worldbeat

• The Mountain (Gorillaz) | Notes: "Incredibly unique sound", the first track startled me a little bit because...I've listened to a lot of Gorillaz, so that was just not what I was expecting. Pretty good album.
