Day Eleven: Are The Gods Omnibenevolent and/or Omniscient?
The next few prompts are very open-ended and I'm having trouble narrowing down topics so, I might be even less on top of this than I already was for a few prompts lol.
The short answer for both of those is that I do not believe either of those things are accurate. I don't think we can ever truly know what the nature of the gods is, but I do not believe that they are all-knowing, all-seeing or eternally benevolent.
I don't think most, if any, gods are actively hostile to humanity. At worst, I think they are uninterested. I think most gods are interested in humanity to some degree though, and they definitely are concerned about their followers.
I think the gods have limited knowledge, but still know more than we could possibly imagine. They have their specific spheres and tend to stick to those. I don't know what I think the gods do and don't know, but I figure things outside of their influence just do not interest them for the most part.
The idea that God is perfect and benevolent and all-knowing is the main thing that rubbed me the wrong way when I was younger and first started thinking about religion. It's why pagan gods appealed to me so much. They are not perfect, they are not always good and they don't know every little thought I have. They are (generally) unconcerned with what I'm thinking about, what matters is what I'm doing.
