Day Thirteen

Prompt: What is your primary magical focus right now? What are your favorite subjects that you’ve studied in the past?

I would say that my primary focus is and always has been spirit work, tied with divination. If I'm being uncharitable to myself, then it's basically an extension of me being nosey. I like to know things and these practices at the very least give me hints. If I'm being more charitable to myself, then it's just because I'm deeply curious and I have this need to know everything, including things that are unknowable and this allows me to gain insight on these questions.

Spirit work likely also came from my love of history (as expected from a history major, particularly one who's ultimately pursuing a degree as a Medievalist) and a desire to know about people from the past. I was a nerdy kid who loved to read about the history of seances and about historical hauntings and I wanted in on that. As I got older, it also started extending to ancestor veneration. I would say that I still mostly do spirit work related to spirits of the dead who aren't my ancestors.

I do divination, honestly, a bit more often than spirit work just due to divination being more practical in my daily life. I mostly focus on tarot, but I also dabble in runes as part of my Norse pagan practice and oracle cards. I also pay attention to my dreams if they're particularly vivid. I don't really know what else to add about this, but I got into tarot pretty early on as well.

As far as subjects I studied in the past...planetary magic and astrology. The only reason I haven't looked more into these subjects is because they both seem incredibly complex and I'm not sure where to start with it. It also feels like it would end up being a lot of math and I'm not very good at math and that would probably make me enjoy it significantly less.
