Pryderi Lavellan
InquisitorPersonality
Pryderi is a relatively shy person. They help their friends and are loyal. They love being Dalish and would have loved to return to their clan, though this is no longer possible.
Pryderi is anti-circle. They always kind of wondered why Dalish mages never had the same issues as mages elsewhere in Thedas and concluded that it must have something to do with the Circles. They do not fear magic at all and are quite fascinated by it.
They are generally against the Chantry. Of course, this is in conflict with their position as Inquisitor.
They believe in the Dalish gods and are entirely uninterested in the Chantry, Andraste and the Maker. They have a specific interest in June, the god of the craft, but never actually had any opportunity to learn any of the associated skills. They would've loved to learn how to make bows. Of course, as a hunter, they actively worshiped Andruil.
They are unsure of their sexuality and don't really feel very motivated to figure it out. They are definitely attracted to men, but have also been attracted to people who aren't men-- notably Hawke, a feminine nonbinary person. They haven't been attracted to women, as far as they know, but...does Hawke count in this case? Hawke wouldn't be offended by this conclusion, but is it accurate? Does it matter, even?

History
PRE-INQUISITIONPryderi Lavellan was born to Clan Lavellan on 14 August 9:11 Dragon. They began learning how to shoot a bow during their pre-teen years and learned the Vir Tanadhal from the clan's hunters in their early teens. They recieved their vallaslin at the age of 17, choosing a design that invokes the master of crafts, June.INQUISITIONThey generally got along well with the members of their clan and would explore the forests with their fellow hunters. Whenever the aravels would enter a new area, they would spend days exploring the area. They felt at home in the woods and adored nature. They didn't feel any particular way about hunting, it never occurred to them that they could have any thoughts on it, since it came so naturally to them.
They did have some brief intimate relationships with fellow hunters, but never anything serious. They had feelings for the clan's First, but never pursued it, since the First always seemed so busy with their studies.
When the mage-templar war began to threaten their clan's safety, the Keeper sent Pryderi to spy on the peace talks being held at the Temple of Sacred Ashes. Unfortunately, something happens at the conclave, leaving Pryderi as the sole survivor.
The events of Dragon Age Inquisition take place after this and I'd rather not write a recap of the entire game. Key events will be listed, some with elaborations if I feel they were especially impactful.Important Events
- Pryderi survived the explosion, but denies being Andraste's Herald.
- Pryderi went to Redcliffe and chose to ally with the mages after the events of "In Hushed Whispers"(1)
- After the destruction of Haven at the hands of Corypheus, Pryderi was given the title of "Inquisitor". They declared that the Inquisition's purpose would be to restore order to Thedas.
- Pryderi allowed Empress Celene to be assassinated, and Briala rules Orlais through Gaspard.
- The siege on Adamant Fortress ended with Stroud being left behind in the fade and the Grey Wardens being exiled.
- While racing Corypheus to the Well of Sorrows, Pryderi decided to respect the temple's traditions and did the rituals and allied with the temple's guardians.(2)
- Pryderi decided to drink from the Well of Sorrows.(3)
- Pryderi supported Leliana as the Chantry's new divine.
(1) Pryderi trusts mages and doesn't understand why the Chantry fears them so much. Dalish mages never seem to have the same problems, so clearly there's something the Chantry is doing wrong. They also wanted the mages to trust the Inquisition, and conscripting them would not have done much to inspire trust and cooperation.
(2)(3) Both decisions were done because of Pryderi's interest in elven history and a desire to understand what has been lost to them. They didn't want to make the guardian's angry and also wanted to experience rituals that were previously unknown to the Dalish.
During the events of Inquisition, Clan Lavellan was wiped out, news that was obviously devistating to them. They would have loved to share the discoveries they made in the Emerald Graves with the keeper and her first.
Throughout their time with the Inquisition, they fell in love with Solas. They allowed Solas to remove their vallaslin. They are unsure how they feel about the choice. Part of them looks in the mirror and feels like part of their identity has been stripped away from them, along with their last tangible connection to their tribe. Another part believes when Solas says that the vallaslin were slave markings and they do not want the elvhen to be slaves any longer.
They didn't struggle with gender dysphoria -- at least not obvious gender dysphoria -- until the Inquisition. Back home, they were simply treated as a hunter, which isn't a gendered profession. Sure, they had their clan using she/her pronouns for them, but it didn't bother them enough for them to really give it much thought. The issue arose when they began being referred to as "lady Lavellan" or "mistress", et cetera. They had always felt somewhat "off", but the constant references to their percieved gender began genuinely distressing them at this point.
They spent a lot of their free time dwelling on what this meant for them, and initially confided in Krem, who was very useful in helping them navigate these feelings. They wouldn't begin coming out to their inner circle until after Corypheus was defeated, but said that they didn't want anybody outside of the Inquisition to know yet. They are still publicly referred to with she/her and "lady Lavellan", for pragmatic reasons.
During the events of "Trespasser", Pryderi decided to preserve the Inquisition as a peacekeeping force and desires to redeem Solas.
Pryderi got along well with Hawke and found her quite charming.
Pryderi was thrilled to recieve a letter from the Hero of Ferelden, even if she was unable to help them against Corypheus.
For reference, their age throughout the series: 19 (DAO), 20 (Act I), 23 (Act II), 26 (Act III), 27 (DAI), 29 (Trespasser)
