Daily Devotion

The best way to have a consistent pagan practice is to try to do things regularly. Ideally, this would mean doing things daily, but even weekly would be fine. Of course, you don't have to do anything you don't want to do, what you do is between you and whatever gods/spirits you're working with. But the key to consistency is having a schedule and sticking to it.

When starting out, it's tempting to have a whole list of things you want to do every day...which is perfectly fine, but the key to actually forming those habits is to pick one and do that one thing consistently for a while, then add on to it over time.

As for what to do...there's literally infinite options. Personally, my partner and I light an incense stick for the Theoi every morning/afternoon before we properly start our day and I fill a little bowl with water on my Irish altar every morning (...ideally). So, my suggestions would be...

  • Light incense
  • Light a candle
  • Daily tarot or rune reading
  • Read a chapter of a book related to your path, maybe journal about it?
  • Keep a journal!
  • Offer water -- water is a great offering!
  • Simply take some time to pray
  • ...many other things, there's really an endless list of things you could possibly do

If what you're doing isn't fulfilling, then there's no reason to continue with it, obviously. But a daily practice can be a good, simple way to stay connected with your practice and/or deities.
